  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter (divided)
  • 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 6 Tbsp softened butter (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, egg, melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk together.
  2. Gradually stir in flour until the dough is no longer sticky. Knead for about 3 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  4. For the filling, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, then roll it tightly into a log and cut into equal rolls.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking pan and let them rise again for another 30 minutes before baking at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.
  7. To make the frosting, beat cream cheese, butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar together until creamy. Frost warm rolls before serving.
