Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter (COLD, cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and butter a 9×9 baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, prepare the streusel topping by combining brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt; cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract and sour cream.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan; sprinkle half of the streusel topping over it. Add remaining batter and top with remaining streusel.
  6. Bake for about 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While cooling, whisk together powdered sugar and milk for glaze; drizzle over cooled cake before serving.
