  • 450 grams ground pork sausage
  • 12 medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers (finely chopped)
  • 480 milliliters chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Toss shrimp with seafood seasoning and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat; cook shrimp until opaque (2-3 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining oil; brown ground beef and sausage while breaking it up.
  4. Add chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  5. Sprinkle in seasonings and flour; mix well.
  6. Pour in chicken broth; simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. Fold in cooked rice until heated through.
  8. Return shrimp to skillet; adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
