Description

Experience the comforting delight of Salisbury Steak, a classic American dish that brings together tender beef patties and a rich, savory mushroom gravy. In just 30 minutes, you can create a hearty meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or special family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 large vidalia onion (diced)
  • 4 ounces sliced white mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon fresh chopped thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • kosher salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Chopped fresh parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko bread crumbs, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Form into four oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties for about 3 minutes on each side and transfer to a platter.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onions until translucent; add mushrooms and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in thyme, garlic powder, and flour for one minute before gradually adding beef stock and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil.
  5. Return patties to the skillet and simmer until cooked through (5–7 minutes).
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and serve warm.
