  • 1 loaf of stale white bread (1518 oz)
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin
  • 5 large eggs
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans
  • melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the stale bread into cubes and place in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together milk, pumpkin, eggs, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla. Pour over bread cubes.
  4. In another bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, pecans, and melted butter for the topping.
  5. Sprinkle the topping over the casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least an hour.
  6. Bake for about 60 minutes until golden brown on top and set in the center.
