  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp parsley (chopped or cilantro)
  • 3 Tbsp coconut oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thinly using a sharp knife or mandoline and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, spices, water, lime juice, and chili pepper. Whisk until you achieve a medium-thick batter.
  3. Mix in the sliced onions until fully coated.
  4. Heat coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat. Drop small portions of the batter into the pan (about four fritters at a time). Fry for 2-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Repeat with remaining batter and serve warm with dipping sauces.
