Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup melted shortening
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix warm water, honey, egg, and vanilla extract. Add melted shortening and combine.
- Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients using a stand mixer on low speed until combined.
- Increase speed to medium and knead for about 8 minutes until the dough is slightly sticky.
- Place in an oiled bowl and cover; let rise in a warm area for 1 to 2 hours until doubled.
- Roll out dough into an 8” x 12” rectangle and sprinkle with a cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Roll tightly, cut into pieces, and place on parchment-lined sheets. Let them rise again before baking or frying.
