- 1.5 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 750g ground beef
- 40g all-purpose flour
- 55g tomato paste
- 500ml beef stock
- 125ml red wine (or substitute)
- 1.2kg potatoes, peeled, cubed
- 165ml warm milk
- 30g butter
- 20g grated parmesan
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sauté garlic, carrot, and celery until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in flour and tomato paste; gradually add wine and stock. Season with bouillon cube, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Boil cubed potatoes until tender; drain and mash with warm milk and butter.
- Allow meat mixture to cool slightly before spreading mashed potatoes on top.
- Sprinkle with parmesan; bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
