  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 15.5 ounces kidney beans
  • 15.5 ounces chili hot beans
  • 29 ounces diced tomatoes
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or other cooking oil)
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dice the onion, green bell pepper, and garlic into small pieces.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the vegetables for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until nearly browned while breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of chili powder and cook until fully browned.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a slow cooker; add remaining ingredients and stir well.
  6. Set the slow cooker on low and cook for about 4 hours.
