  • 113 ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 125 grams confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • pinch salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fill the doughnut pan halfway with batter and bake for about 11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before glazing with a mixture of confectioners' sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
