  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with sugar until creamy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce; mix until smooth.
  4. Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture until just combined. Gently fold in diced apples.
  5. Scoop batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar with apple cider until pourable.
  8. After baking, brush warm fritter bites with glaze and broil for 2–4 minutes until caramelized.
