  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 oval patties.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Brown each patty for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in melted butter. Stir in flour for about 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Return browned patties to the skillet and cover tightly.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake covered for 45 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
