Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 onion (finely diced)
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 oval patties.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Brown each patty for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in melted butter. Stir in flour for about 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
- Return browned patties to the skillet and cover tightly.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake covered for 45 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
