  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 35 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Red and blue gel icing color

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two cupcake tins with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together butter, vegetable oil, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one by one and mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients while alternating with milk.
  6. Fill liners two-thirds full and bake for about 18 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely on wire racks before frosting.
  8. Prepare frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, almond extract, and cream until fluffy. Color frosting red and blue.
  9. Pipe frosting onto cupcakes in a flag pattern.
